Far Forest Society Countryside Show

12th and 13th August 2017

Gates open at 9.30 each day

Saturday 'til 11pm Sunday 'til 5pm

Brand NEW for 2017 we are providing FREE entertainment on Saturday evening. Click the link on the left for more details.

This year our theme is Alice in Wonderland. There will be a treasure hunt around the ground for children of all ages to find the characters. Come in Fancy Dress too if you’d like.
We have reviewed the layout of the showground in order to open up the area. We have moved the craft marquee to near the Pavilion and designated a larger portion of the upper field to activities and entertainment. The lower field has also been rearranged to centralise the arena entertainment which, with the addition of a second arena, will be full of canine exploits over both days.

Join us and Get involved!

On BOTH days of the show there will be dog fancy dress (along our Alice theme) and dog IQ competitions and a fun dog show to enter as well as Dog Agility and Obedience displays from visiting teams. So bring your dog and join in the fun; who knows you might win a prize!

Sunday Dog Show Schedule in aid of Forest Dog Rescue.

In 2016 we held our second 2-day show, building on the successful 2015 show. We made changes to our main attraction in the Main Arena which brought a wider demographic to the showground and we aim to do the same again, building on successes to attract more visitors and more traders.

Many of our visitors are interested in attractions that reflect the fact that we are a countryside show. So we have a significant number of animal exhibits where people can interact with farm birds, sheep, pigs, and horses among others, as well as more exotic creatures such as alpacas and traditional country pursuits such as falconry. The hardware of living in the country is always a feature with our ever popular tractor rides and exhibits that show off farm machinery including classic tractors and stationary engines.

The live music stage, located near the food court and bar is always wonderful and varied entertainment. Other entertainment around the ground often includes bouncy castles, pony rides, water zorbes, bungee trampolines and, in 2016, laser clay pigeon shooting.

Trade stands around the show represent a wide range of products and services from lamps and candles to pet food, pocket money toys to personalised slate plaques. Further interest in the Craft and Hobbies Marquee where homecrafters demonstrate and sell the products of their hobby - cards, candles, fabric-work, chinaware, wicker craft or willow work to name but a few.

Food is of course of paramount importance when out for the day so we aim to provide a wide range from sandwiches and home made cakes made by the Far Forest WI through Cream Teas to Gourmet burgers. The food marquee is always a great attraction with locally produced products on sale to take away. Breads, cheeses, pickles, drinks, ice-cream are often in the mix each year.

There is a licensed Bar and teas and coffees are also on sale around the ground - so why not grab a drink, sit back and enjoy the entertainment. On the Saturday evening entertainment goes on until 10pm.
